Studio Painting Days + Points of Reference
I've worked in the studio a handful of days since my last post. This has included work on the 40 x 30 two-panel painting that I started on Flagstaff this Fall, and a couple little still lifes. All progressing, albeit in different directions. Is the big painting too literal? I do enjoy staring at it. The smalls are more challenging and open, but more esoteric - which I always prefer. So how to merge these two threads. It will happen.
Oh, and I've also been spending a tremendous about of hours scanning and editing the pages of the last two watercolor books. I need to see them all at once, on the screen or printed and put on a wall. Perhaps a book will come of this after all?
Two points of reference I keep returning to: Alex Katz and Marsden Hartley.
